THE CATHOLIC AFRICAN WORLD NETWORK PAGE

The Catholic African World Network is a collaboration of four Catholic communications ministries working together to realize the words of Pope Paul VI, “…enrich the Church with your unique gift of blackness.” The Catholic African World Network (CAWN) produces programming that shares with the entire Roman Catholic Church the gifts of Black culture, and to promote Catholicism in the Black community throughout the world. There are 270 million Catholics of African descent. The services and productions of CAWN are in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.

The four collaborative ministries of CAWN are:

The Black Catholic Televangelization Network – producing television shows and documentary productions in the U.S., Europe, Latin America and Africa

This Far by Faith: The Black Chapel of the Air – radio programming to evangelize the African American community

The 30 minute radio show features Black bishops and priests preaching on the Sunday reading and features Black Catholic gospel choirs. Over 150 weekly shows have been produced and aired in more than 200 cities in the U. S.

The Black Catholic Information Mall – www.bcimall.org : - an award-winning web site that features resources, networking and news for the ‘virtual global village’

The Institute for Recovery from Racisms – a racial healing ministry that produces national teleconferences, the certification of Racial Sobriety Facilitators, publishes books on racial recovery and racial sobriety, and sponsors “May” “Racial Sobriety Month.”

The name of the organization, Catholic African World Network, captures the focus of its ministry.

Catholic - focusing on the Catholic Church as institutions of service, worship and education

African - Afro-centric resources, information and news of interest to both the Catholic and Black communities

World – global in its focus on brining full awareness of the reality of Pan African Catholicism through information on and listings of Catholics of African descent in the global 'virtual' village

Network – connecting various means of communications, organizations and people in the service of sharing the gifts of Black faith and culture with the world

The president of the Catholic African World Network is Fr. Clarence Earl Williams, CPPS, PhD.
